New Year’s Resolutions for any automated gate owner

  • Check that the gate is CE marked and is compliant with current recommended best practice and features the necessary safety features – ask a Gate Safe Aware or Powered Gate Safety Assured accredited installer to undertaken an audit on the gate if you are unsure
  • Stick to the recommended six monthly maintenance inspections by a suitably qualified Gate Safe Aware or Powered Gate Safety Assured accredited installer
  • Make sure that all relevant gate users are aware of how to disable the gate in an emergency
  • Install a key safe to house the release keys for the gate (installed on the post or adjacent to the post)
  • Remember to review the gate regularly and consider any changes in the physical surroundings which might affect the safety of the installation, along with simple checks to ensure that the safety devices are working
