GATE SAFE NEWS

GATE SAFETY WEEK SET FOR OCTOBER 2016

Gate Safety week is being held October 10th - 16th this year.

The aims of the campaign are:

- To educate gate professionals and gate owners regarding the correct supply, installation, operation and maintenance of automated gates.

- To highlight the liabilities and responsibilities of those who specify, install, maintain, survey and use powered gates.

- To emphasise the importance of ensuring an automated gate is correctly CE marked and has been installed in accordance with the latest industry code of practice governing safety.

Gate Safe founder Richard Jackson says: “There have been a total of 10 deaths linked to heavy automated gates in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, and a further 14 accidents – and these are just the accidents we are aware of – there are potentially many more. It is only with a greater awareness amongst professionals that we will achieve the desired safe installation of gates as the norm. The awareness training that Gate Safe offers, plus other Gate Safe initiatives such as the Gate Safe MOT, Gate Safe Visualiser and Gate Safe Site Survey, along with Gate Safety Week are all steps in the right direction.”
